Carpal Tunnel Massage Can Ease Pain

Carpal tunnel syndrome, or CTS, plagues thousands of Americans as it also results in a rise in disability payments, a loss of work for many and can lead to mental anguish and depression. However, carpal tunnel syndrome is preventable, treatable and even curable through effective carpal tunnel massage techniques and simple, concentrated daily exercises.

A medical condition caused by compression of the median nerve, CTS derives its name from eight bones located in the wrist, known as carpals, which form a type of tunnel filled with tendons that control finger motion. The carpal tunnel is also home to the median nerve and various blood vessels. Illness, fluid retention, obesity, or unnatural repetitive movements involving the carpal tunnel cause sheaths, which protect the nerves and tendons in that area, to thicken and tighten around the tendons. The resulting pressure from such swelling applies intense pressure on the median nerve, which causes the intense pain of CTS.

Many jobs that require the use of cash registers, computer keyboards, and similar equipment that cause the user to use the same type of motion over and over are often the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome. The rise in the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome cases is causing the cost of the labor for to increase. Knowing what the causes and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are can allow people to take measure to prevent the onset of the condition. This could save millions in disability payments, insurance costs, and lost wages.

A few of the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are as follows:

Numbness of the hands, fingers, and wrist Burning sensations or tingling in the fingers, hands, and wrists Weakness in the wrist Loss of grip in the hands Hand and wrist pain Atrophy of the hand and finger muscles Feeling of swelling in the hands or fingers, even if no swelling is apparent

The symptoms of carpal tunnel symptom often become ore intense at night but can also be felt frequently throughout the day.

People that take advantage of ergonomic furniture and tools in their place of work are able to effectively prevent the onset of carpal tunnel syndrome. It is important to take frequent intervals of rest when doing tasks that require any type of repetitive movements of the arms, wrists, or hands.

However, if carpal tunnel syndrome is acquired, it is critical for people to begin treatment as early as possible. By engaging in consistent, daily massages that concentrate short, pressurized strokes on the muscles and tendons of the forearm as well as the wrist and palms, the pain from carpal tunnel can be relieved as the median nerve is encouraged to decompress.

By doing targeted carpal tunnel exercises that engage the muscles and nerves in activities that require resistance and incorporate a variety of motion exercises that target the wrists and fingers, the circulation can be restored to the median nerve and the surrounding tendons. The easy exercises can greatly reduce the swelling and restore previously lost strength to the wrist, fingers, and hands.

There are many people that think they will be sentenced to a life of pain or risky surgery once they are diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. It is entirely possible to relieve the pain and reverse the damage that was caused by the condition with the implementation of daily carpal tunnel exercises and carpal tunnel massage. It is possible to see results in as little as two weeks once an individual takes control of their health.

Treatment Helpful in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Newer studies are showing that visiting a chiropractor can be helpful for those who suffer from carpal tunnel. It can help just as much as conservative types of car, which can include pain killers and even splints on the wrist as well. As more research is done, it has shown that those with repetitive stress injuries can definitely benefit from chiropractic treatment. It can even help with healing and be just as helpful as other types of medicinal treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome.

The philosophy behind chiropractics is based that the form of the body follows the function. This means that problems to the body that are not caused by an unfortunate accident are usually a result of misshapenness or even misuse of certain body parts. Specifically this form of medicine focuses on the spine and its problems, since the spine conducts all the energy to the rest of the body from the brain, which makes it very important.

There are many people with carpal tunnel syndrome who want relief and have decided to try out chiropractic treatment. They don’t really want to go through the trauma of surgery, they don’t want to have their hands immobilized for treatment, and they are not fond of drugs either. Chiropractors are able to come up with some other methods of treatment to treat their carpal tunnel.

Often manipulation is used in this type of medicine. It may include manipulation of the wrist, the arm, or even the spine of the patient. Spinal problems can actually relate to and even cause carpal tunnel. Sometimes making adjustments to the spinal column can be done with the hands to help, and often other types of tools are used, which are very safe.

One tool they often use is ultrasound therapy. Special sonic waves that can’t be heard by humans are used with ultrasound and are used on a specific part of the patient’s body. The sound waves are able to deeply penetrate the body. They can help provide muscle relaxation, can take away some of the pain, and even take down some of the inflammation in the area. This helps to promote better healing.

Wrist supports are used in some cases by chiropractors too. They help to keep the wrist stable and from moving. This way more irritation can’t occur. Usually they are designed to be worn when the patient is sleeping. This way the wrists are kept from moving during the sleeping times, but they can still have the mobility needed to do their job.

While chiropractic medicine has much to offer, there are other approaches that are helpful as well. One that uses manipulation as well is the use of physical exercise to treat carpal tunnel. There are special exercises that can help this problem and prevent it from occurring again in the future. Some people benefit from a chiropractor, but not everyone does. Good exercises can be very helpful and anyone can easily do them. You will save money too, since they are free to use. Why not go ahead and check out these exercises for some carpal tunnel pain relief.
