Getting Started With Yoga

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

I’ve been learning and practicing yoga for the past several years. Yoga has become a passion and a joy in my life and I hope to help others in their journey to discover the wonderful benefits of meditation and yoga. When you’re starting out with Yoga, it can be tough to find the motivation to keep doing it. Here’s a few tips to make your first experiences with yoga enjoyable.

If you’ve recently started doing yoga or have tried it a couple of times but dont have the motivation to keep going, these tips might help you to get that feel-good feeling that you need to want to come back again and again. Yoga is such a wonderful practice and I assure you that if you stick with it and do it at least once a week, within a month you’ll feel more flexible, more happy, and your mind will be clearer than you ever thought possible. Once you get over the hump, you’ll start to feel the “yoga glow”, which is the feeling of a clear mind and a flexible body that will shine.

Straps help your to get started A Yoga Strap really helps you stretch further by providing extra reach where a beginner would normally not have any. Get a strap and it will quickly help you stretch to those toes! Before long you wont need it anymore.

Breathe Deep It’s important to focus on your breath as this will help you get deeper into your stretches. When you breathe in, relax, as you breath out, push your self a little further and deeper into the stretch.

Meditate and clear your mind At the end of your practice, spend plenty of time just relaxing and letting your mind go. Doing this provides the largest reward. If you do this with a clear mind for at least 15-20 minutes, you’ll feel more clear minded than ever and will be excited for your next yoga practice

Protect your joints with a thick matIf you get an extra thick yoga mat, you’ll have a lot more support and padding for any stretches that are joint intensive…if you sweat a lot, there are several mats out there that are skidless and have good traction so that you don’t slip.

I hope this helps inspire you to start or continue with yoga. I promise you that if you stick with it, you’ll feel better and clearer than ever before!

If you need help picking out some yoga accessories to get started, I would suggest a thick yoga mat and yoga mat bag. Click here to get your own unique version of this article with free reprint rights.
